These models describe the evolution of electronic populations, and serve as a basis for understanding semiconductor-based electronic devices. In a second part, the PN junction, made of two pieces of the same semiconductor with two different doping types (P and N), is studied in detail. This simple structure represents the building block for all other semiconductor devices, such as diodes, transistors, photodiodes, light-emitting diodes, or laser diodes.
