In this video, you will learn how to perform hydrodistillation and distillation by steam distillation. These are old distillation techniques at atmospheric pressure using water vapour. These distillation processes are used for the extraction of organic substances by a steam flow. In industry, hydrodistillation is used in particular for the extraction of natural substances such as essential oils for perfumery and food flavorings, but also for the extraction of molecules for pharmacopoeia. The video focuses more particularly on the extraction of eugenol from cloves.</lom:string>
